I love when a mess in the kitchen, when eyes full of tears from chopping onion, when a sauce pot is steaming… all brought together it makes something amazing. I’ve been seeing red. I’ve been smelling the scent of fresh herbs. Our kitchen has been productive these past few days. Now I have a few more jars to stock on our shelves.

Your kitchen has been productive – there should be some good eating all winter long. Enjoy the fruits of your labors. And keep finding beautiful things to photograph.

Your apple butter recipe is AMAZING! We all enjoyed it!
PS- do you give your canning jars a warm bath, or do you store them upside down for a while?

I rather enjoy what your kitchen is producing. Would you like to come to Missouri for a visit and make mine do the same? 😉

ok ladies, i’m sharing a secret i found out years ago after a long summer of experimentation with a friend trying to duplicate a local sauce we loved…..if you want your sauce to have that pungent, sun-dried tomatoe taste, just add a tablespoon of cider vinegar at the beginning of cooking it. make sure it has time to cook down and no more than a tablespoon or you’ll be sorry. but it will take your sauce to a whole new level and your family won’t be able to get enough. happy cooking!

It’s one of the best feelings in the world. Warm kitchen with cozy smells. I love it.
In regards to your own garden, it depends on when your final frost is and when you want to plant. Most seed packets will tell you how long it takes to get to maturity.
I start from seed in the house around March to plant by Memorial Day weekend. Stay tuned to my blog in January and beyond. That is when I start my garden planning.

That sauce looks very good! I really enjoy how often you canned and make goodies. I need to learn to do some of those things.

I’d love to open up up a jar of that in the winter. Great job!
Btw, I went to Fenton High School. How’s that for a small world? ;D

seems canning is definitely big right now; I wish I knew how. Lucky for me, my grandparent-in-laws (um, I think that’s right) do it and have a garden so we get canned stuff & fresh stuff. Mmmmm as Moose would say.
And thank you for your comment. I was kind of worried about posting about the election (and getting some crazy Obama fans dissing me). Thank you!
