I had such a great time with a fabulous group of women last week at one of my favorite stores, West Elm! We spent the evening chatting, enjoying some delicious sweet treats and then customizing our own body butters and body scrubs, which actually make a pretty perfect gift, especially when all wrapped up in cute little mason jars.
Everyone in attendance had the chance to create their own scents for a smoothing body scrub and super rich whipped body butter!
To make the scrubs, we started with two parts exfoliant to one part moisturizing oil and then added essential oils for the scent and benefits! For the exfoliant, you can use sugars, salt or coffee grounds (which is said to help with cellulite as well!). For the moisturizer, there are a plethora of oils available like coconut oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, etc. Mix together and then add in your favorite essential oils or blends to make a delightful body scrub!
For the whipped body butter, I melted down equal parts coconut oil and shea butter together in a pot on the stove, then when cooled and set, put it all in the mixer and whipped until smooth and the right consistency! Add a few drops of essential oil per small jar of body butter and mix! The scent of the shea butter will dissipate on your skin and you’ll be left with the scent of the oils added. Some of the favorite blends from the night were Grapefruit + Peppermint, Lavender + Lime + Grapefruit and Zen + Lavender.
Many thanks to West Elm and especially to the sweet girls from the Hyde Park Village in Tampa location who let us come in and take over, and help move furniture and have a blast with us! 😉 Now I just need to go back and shop. We were all drooling over the printed bowls, adorable kitchen towels and their “hello” gold lettering!
I want to give a huge shout out to our amazing sponsors (and offer a giveaway too!!), because we always like our guests to leave with a bag of swag! After noshing on delicious treats and sweets from Piquant throughout the evening (seriously a delicious French restaurant and bakery in Hyde Park Village), everyone left this fun event with their own bottle of Grapefruit essential oil from Spark Naturals, a gorgeous greeting card from Gather & Dwell, gold metallic temporary tattoo from Tattly (so fun!), a great piece of jewelry from Gemara’s Gems, a beautifully soft loofah from Bellus Threads along with an essential oil infused shampoo and conditioner, a certificate for item of choice from Lilla Rose, plus a tote bag from Hyde Park Village and Shop Sevi! On top of that, we raffled off some amazing giveaways from LifeProof (my go-to waterproof case that usually stays on my phone to prevent disastrous mishaps!) and Otterbox, plus a generous donation from Kaiya Designs for one lucky woman in attendance!
I had such a great time with these women and can’t wait for the next event… stay tuned 😉
