Tabitha applying essential oils
dropper of essential oil

I started my journey with essential oils almost fifteen years ago and have been a fan of their natural healing and health capabilities ever since, although the usage in our home and family life has taken on its own ebb and flow.

They were a beautiful necessity throughout my pregnancies and deliveries, and also perfect for those baby rub downs and overall health, especially when we lived in a cold climate and it seemed like colds and flus were more commonly passed around in those chilled winter months.

Upon our move to a new city and state a couple of short years ago, I decided to cancel my regular orders with the essential oil company that I was using. Though they were one of the top rated oil companies (especially at the time), the cost associated with it, and commitment on a monthly basis, wasn’t something I wanted to keep up with during the move and subsequent months.

Fast forward a couple of years and it seems as though essential oils has become the “trendy” thing. While I’m all about exploring trends, my re-entry into the essential oil life was less to do with being “on trend” and really began upon learning that the miscarriages I’d experienced most likely had to do with my own hormones and how it took too long for them to stabilize after a pregnancy… meaning there was a slight possibility that they could have been avoided.

Just typing those words brings tears to my eyes… again.

My choice now is to do something about it. My choice now is to balance hormones and enable my body with the nutrients and minerals it needs to function properly, to find natural, holistic alternatives that are not only safe, but effective. The same thing applies to minor burns and scrapes, muscle soreness and aches, immune support, congestion, and the virtually endless list of normal everyday life experiences that can be supported naturally.

Did you know that the first prescription ever recorded was for Frankincense Oil? The second was for Peppermint Oil. There is so much natural medicine at our disposal, we just have to know where to look. Some of the mostly widely used medications today were originally sourced from plants. For example, some of the first aspirin medication used was an extract of White Willow Bark. Even the modern chemo medication Paclitaxel, used to treat many forms of cancer, is sourced from the bark of the Pacific Yew tree (Taxus brevifolia).

By using essential oils we are simply remembering the things many people and cultures have used for thousands of years — where healers used the pure essential part of plants, trees and vegetation to help with everything from stomach ailments to sleep apnea and so much in between. Solutions that don’t have a long list of side effects or warning labels.

Essential oils don’t just mask symptoms. They bring therapeutic change to the body at a cellular level, dealing with the root issue and supporting the bodily system as a whole. I want to help mamas like me, and others, create a healthy home life for their families in a modern way using ancient techniques, one small change at a time.
