S’mores seem to be one of the quintessential American treats, and one that my kids have been asking for daily (not that they get it daily, just something they’ve had a “hankering” for I guess!). So with America’s birthday on the horizon, we decided to make a super simple and festive treat to celebrate, because you know, celebrations are always in order.
This is so easy to whip up and makes a big statement… plus with just a couple of extra ingredients besides your classic s’mores recipe, you won’t be spending much time in the kitchen and that leaves more time to spend enjoying these treats, and your family.
To make, we just added food coloring to white frosting to create the blue and the red bowls of frosting (or you could purchase frosting or icing that is already colored), and then when stacking our s’mores, we smoothed a dollop of each on a graham cracker. Add in a slice of chocolate (or your favorite candy bar) and a toasted, melty marshmallow! Red, White and Blue S’mores!
You’re sure to be the hero of any backyard BBQ this Fourth of July with these!
