In today’s episode we are diving into handling setbacks, staying motivated when life throws you curveballs and why to actually thank the challenges that come your way.
Setbacks in life are inevitable, but they don’t have to derail your progress and stop you from achieving your goals. Sometimes they can even be what ultimately leads you to success!
In this episode, I discuss:
- Reframing ‘failures’ as feedback. Ask yourself what you can learn from the experience and what adjustments can be made in your plans towards your goals. Rather than letting them derail you, use your setbacks as opportunities to refine your goals and improve your approach.
- The importance of breaking down your goals, especially when they are feeling overwhelming and you’re coming up against challenges. Small, manageable action steps make it easier to feel focused and motivated.
- My son’s recent foray into volleyball and how he has fared with the various challenges and setbacks that have come his way during the training process. These challenges have actually helped him build confidence and resilience, and this example is representative of so many learning curves in life.
- By being presented with challenges, you are receiving opportunities to exercise the muscle you are trying to grow! Just like how train our muscles in the gym by giving them resistance or putting pressure on them, setbacks provide us with opportunities to exercise the skills we are trying to nurture.
- The power of gratitude and thanking the challenges you face – stay curious about what setbacks are telling you and use them as opportunities to exercise the skills that will ultimately help you grow and achieve those big goals!
Setbacks are merely stepping stones to success. Life will always present challenges but it’s how you handle them that will define your success.
