Lately it seems that I’m constantly tapping away on my iPhone. I use it for organization, email, video and more… and when it’s not in my hands, it finds it’s way into the hands of Baby Blue for entertainment. (At the grocery store, it’s a sanity saver). Of course, if you are using your phone of all these features then you need to ensure that you look into application security services to make sure you’re safe to use the apps and none of your data can be stolen. I’ve rounded up a few fabulous iPhone/iPod Touch applications that are sure to make your life as a parent much easier and more fun! Check them out for yourself.
1) Baby Monitor
“Monitor your sleeping baby with this iPhone app. Simply place the iPhone near your sleeping baby, if it detects noise, it places a phone call to the number of your choice, you can then listen in for activity from your baby. Great for when you are on the go or traveling, no need to pack your regular baby monitor. One feature that makes this application exceptional is that the monitor has unlimited range! Even use it to monitor when older kids arrive home from school, etc. The applications are unlimited. It also will detect if your baby picks up the phone. Great for curious toddlers that wake up from their nap without making noise. A fantastic value at only 99 cents.” (Via CodeGoo)
2) Jared
This one will entertains Baby Blue. It’s weird and strange… and sometimes funny. She even knows his name. The best part is that it’s free.
“When you launch this app an imbecile smiley, with a yellow halo, starts singing Luna de Xelaj in an inexplicable “voice”. Only the lips of this oddball move, during this strange rendition.
And in case you didn’t know anything about this superstar and this super-song, we redeem you here.
Luna de Xelaju, is a Spanish song. Jared is an American amateur singer who, well, “sang” Luna de Xelaju. Which in turn, became a smash–hit cult song.”

3) iTalk
Want to hear those cute baby babblings forever? It seems in a moment Baby Blue’s words changed from “kiki” to “blanket”, and from “wawa” to “water.” It’s all a part of growing, but I still want to hear those tiny little words that always brought a smile to my face. Enter iTalk. I can record Baby Blue and my phone transfers it to my computer for storage. I can also make myself notes that I don’t want to forget. Perfect companion. For a limited time, it’s free.
4) iChalky
Baby Blue can’t get enough of dancing moving objects on the screen. iChalky dances, he jumps, he tries to stay balance as you move the phone in circles. Entertainment for hours (er, at least minutes).
5) Cowbell
Since my little one likes to shake my phone anyway, this one lets her have the satisfaction of a cowbell noise along with it. It can get pretty fun for both of us, and usually ends in laughter. (Anyone remember the SNL sketch, “More Cowbell?”)
6) Scribble
Keep your little artist at work. Draw, scribble, and color with the touch of your finger. When finished, you can save the work or shake to start a clean slate.
7) Bubbles
“For toddlers who need a fun distraction. Bubbles brings the simple pleasure of popping bubbles to your iPhone. Unlike other iPhone games, Bubbles is free entertainment that’s fun for little ones on up.”

8) White Noise
“This (free) application creates 8 soothing sounds to drown out noise while your baby naps or to help you relax after a particularly crazy day. You can adjust pitch, balance volume and set the shutoff timer. If 8 sounds aren’t enough, you can purchase the full version for $0.99.”

Dang it! So far, I have been able to avoid getting an iPhone on the grounds that the only reason I want one is pure ENVY. But, after your blog and watching a friend use her iPhone to figure out how long it would take us to get somewhere in traffic has me putting it on my Christmas list. [sigh]
