We’re sharing just how to create a cozy Christmas tree trimming party with an old-fashioned popcorn garland station in this sponsored post with Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP. From deliciously simple flavors for stringing to delightful holiday flavors for snacking, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP has us covered.
Finally; it’s that season.
A season where we all get excited over something – like present wrapping and cookie baking. For some it’s showers of snow that blanket their home or a roaring fire to warm within it’s walls. For others yet, it’s the sound of a favorite Christmas carol, the joy in a seasonal treat or the sight of kids reading the books stashed away the rest of the year.
For me? It’s making traditions. Even in our bustling household and within our busy schedules, I like to find time, or rather, make time to connect.
It seems as though everything that was once old is new again. Vintage is the new cool. Reclaimed wood is the popular choice in design while record players and video gaming systems of old have all made a comeback. And the classic tradition of stringing popcorn for tree trimming is a tale of old that we wanted to revive and claim in our house as a new family tradition.
“Like snowflakes, Christmas memories gather and dance — each beautiful, unique, and gone too soon.” – Deborah Whipp
So, we had ourselves our very own tree trimming party with one of our faves, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP, and it was easier than I thought!
How to Enjoy your Own Festive Tree Trimming Party
Gather the essentials.
First up, it’s just rounding up the supplies needed. We started with our favorite popcorn brand as of late, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP. While they offer a ton of great flavors, including some holiday seasonal faves like Cinnamon Roll Drizzled Flavored Kettle Corn and Dark Chocolatey Drizzled Sea Salt Kettle Corn, we kept it simple with Sea Salt Ready-to-Eat popcorn… in part to keep our fingers clean and since I knew the stringed popcorn would be draped across the branches of our tree.
That isn’t to say that setting out a bowl of the sweet stuff wouldn’t be a great idea, because it totally would! Though at 35 calories a cup, that Sea Salt popcorn also contains a lot of satisfaction.
Besides the popcorn itself, we needed needles and thread and scissors to make it happen. Have at least one needle and spool of thread available for each person that plans to attend, that way everyone has the opportunity to string popcorn together.
Make your tree trimming party festive.
Once you’ve got the essentials gathered, it’s time to fill in with festive touches.
My preferred option is to keep it simple with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate. There will already be plenty of salty popcorn snacking (so make sure to stock up!), so just fill in the table with some of the sweet stuff and you’ll be good to go!
Plan a playlist for your tree trimming party.
Since you’re already engaging most of the senses, like touch, taste and even sight, why not add another? Create a fun holiday playlist or classic Christmas movie in the background… and I say classic, because if it’s not a movie that everyone has seen before, eye’s may just drift to the screen to watch instead of focusing on the stringing. (I speak from experience, ha.)

We used to string popcorn when the kids were little and it was so much fun. Plus, we’d eat as much as we strung. What a fun tree trimming party and your tree is gorgeous.

Your tree trimming party looks so elegant! This reminded me of a less elegant one we had though with popcorn and other edible goodies. We decorated a tree outside for our chickens….. I kid you not. There was also mud that day…. anyway, yours is beautiful. I think no one can go wrong with a tree trimming party, even outside!

I love your tree but I don’t think I could do this…not much of the Boom Chicka Pop would make it on the tree! LOL!!
