The thick and heavy blanket of snow that has covered every surface outside our door, and what seems to be half of the country, has sent us hibernating in the warmth and comfort of our cave. And I think that settling into this slow and steady, weekend-like hibernation has allowed my body to fight back after all the business, long hours and stress that I’ve been subjecting it to. I lasted through the last few rounds of travel, in and out of the frigid weather, little sleep and burning the candle, all with nothing more than a few extra wipes of my nose… that and a lot of vitamins.
Bray and I are nursing each other back to health, both competing for the highest temperature award and simultaneously keeping it in the low-grade column with a little bit of effort. When my energy surges, I wipe and clean, diffuse oils and load up on vitamins in an effort to counter-act whatever germs are trying to hibernate with us, followed by a couple of hours of rest and whispering in the ear of my babe that it’s gonna’ be okay while I cool his forehead and Tylenol him up.
Chris and Aliyah, on the other hand, have been enjoying the burrowing with quick expeditions out of the cave for snow play and shoveling, followed by a mug of hot chocolate to warm those ย fingers and toes from the inside out.
And since the two together make a perfect combination, that’s what we do. We burrow a little deeper and ride it out. Baking, playing, resting… hibernating and healing.
Enjoy what comes your way friends, whether it be warm sun rays or large snow flakes.

Oh, I feel ya. Praying that full health manifests soon. I’m dealing with a mess myself. I told Devin that I smell like an apothecary!! lol

Sometimes it takes a little fever to slow us down & force us to refocus. Think about it… It makes us sit home, take care of ourselves, pray more and cuddle. Things we may have cut short otherwise. Lucas has had a small grade fever since yesterday. I woke up with a sore throat. And I promptly called the lady I was signing up to sell jewelry under tonight.. And told her I changed my mind and now isn’t the time. I feel better already ๐ Love the new banner!!

ditto on the banner! Love that!!! Thank you for visiting my blog today, despite being sick! I love this post. You have a way with evoking beautiful feelings about what it means to have a family. You do this through your words that tell us when you are down but not out…and your photography that makes me quiet inside, remembering my Michigan home. Thank you for bringing that to the surface today. Feel better soon! P.S. are those skidnees on the darling baby boy?

Awe, such a good reminder. I hope you and Brayden are healing quickly. We’re snowed in as well. We’ve been enjoying being “forced” to stay home. It’s kinda nice for a change.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Feel better! I’m an expat and miss the snow so much. I might be a little deranged I think. ๐ Love the pictures by the way. You’re great with a camera.

Great photos. Glad you’ve had a chance to hibernate and heal a bit. Hope you two continue to feel better. Even here in Texas we were snowed in for four days. It was good to have the time off from work. It’s all thawed now, though, in time for the Super Bowl which is just down the road from us. Have a great Sunday.
