With the turn of the holiday season comes plenty of parties and family get togethers. There are many ways to add flare to your holiday get togethers, and some, more easily executable than others.
So while we’re busy decking the halls and making memories, here are just a few simple tips to make any holiday soirée one for the books… the online photo books especially!

Signature Drink
One of my favorite ways to bring a wow-factor for any gathering has to be creating signature drinks, and yes, they’re totally Instagrammable, especially a holiday party! Even if you want to keep the menu low key and opt for a laid back decorating style, a drink is something relatively simple that anyone can pull together to pack a big punch at your next party (okay, pun intended 😉 ).
What’s better than a signature drink? Signature punch! When you make it up in batch form, you’ll be ready to serve multiple guests at once and you’ll find it creates less stress for you. In fact, set out the punch and glasses and let your guests serve themselves!
Our Holiday Harvest Punch Recipe:
- 2 Parts Apple Cider
- 2 Parts Canada Dry Ginger Ale
- 1 Part Cranberry Juice
Garnishes
- Cinnamon
- Sugar
- Cranberries
- Sliced Apples
Mix your ingredients and top your punch with frozen cranberries, sliced apples and to really kick it up a notch, run a slice of lime over your glass rims and dip in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
Pretty Food
If there’s one thing we know about Instagram, it’s that its users certainly love food! I’m proudly included. For a fête, you don’t have to make your spread difficult, just make it pretty. A cheese tray is a simple way to dish out simple bites, either as a finger-food feast or as an appetizer ready-to-go and on the table before a hearty meal.
We like to layer and always begin with greens on the table, to let the food really shine. Plus your ultimate holiday cheese board can double as an edible centerpiece as well, especially when there’s chocolate involved!
Dress Code
There’s no season like the current one where ugly can be a good thing! Have guests don their ugly Christmas sweaters (our fave Canada Dry Ginger Ale is even donning a sweater for the holidays), or opt for a classic approach like a black and white party, pajama party, the list can go on and on.
The plus side to a killer dress code? Killer Insta snapshots and stories!
Gifts + Games
From fun exchanges like a white elephant gift, to door prizes to collecting goods for donations; having a way for guests to give, and to get, always brings an element of fun!
In fact, one of the best things about the season is the giving of gifts. I remember as a kid the excitement of packing up lunches and meals for families, gathering coats and blankets from our closets and friends, and passing them out to those that really needed it through the winter season. Now we’ve carried on traditions of giving with our own little ones, and even over last night’s dinner they talked about how much they loved picking out and boxing up gifts for kids that didn’t have any.
We can all give back in this season of giving while throwing a great party as well. Look for specially marked packages of 7UP, Canada Dry, and Squirt at Walmart, with every purchase there will be a donation to The Salvation Army.
Photo Booth
Whether you set up a backdrop or have some festive holiday decor to double as a photo backdrop, use it! Set out props to let your guests know you’re okay for posing in front of the tree, or even add some twinkle lights to a blank wall for a super simple yet delightfully post-able background.
See, it only takes a few thoughtful steps to throw a completely post-worthy shindig! Cheers to fun and festive party season, friends. 🙂
