For the last few years, I’ve really enjoyed purchasing handmade or personalized goods. I love supporting an individual or small company as opposed to a conglomerate whenever possible. This year, I’ve decided to buy as many holiday gifts from companies that make their products in the USA as I can. I’ve compiled a list of amazing items that meet my criteria for the Mama in your life and can’t wait to share it with you!
1// Leader Bag Co. Diaper Bag 2// Salvage Audio Willow Bluetooth Speaker 3// Made by Mary necklaces 4// Flourish Leather bracelets and cuffs 5// Birdling Bag Weekender
Several of these items are unique and can be customized. Salvage Audio will do free custom engravings on their pieces or you can contact them about choosing a different wood or stain color for your speaker. Made by Mary allows you to customize any necklace with text or chain length (I have one with my sons names on it!). Personalizing an item can turn a great gift into an heirloom.
All of these items are exquisitely made. Each shop maintains a consistent message about their commitment to quality and attention to detail. While there are many benefits to keeping production in the USA, I feel that Liz Nesher Elliott, Co-founder of Leader Bag Co, summed up stateside manufacturing best by saying “we believe that one of the most powerful ways to nurture and grow our community is to invest in it.” This idea is one that I believe anyone can support in a myriad of ways; from buying American made goods to shopping at your local farmer’s market!
In preparing for this post I interviewed several of the business owners who produce the products highlighted above. I asked several of them what their favorite Made in the USA products were. Jared from Salvage Audio would love any handmade furniture by Jory Brigham. Courtney and Meagan from Birdling Bags love Solly Baby Wraps, Steven Alan, Splendid, and Freshly Picked. Liz from Leader Bag Co. is a fan of anything Emerson Fry. I now have a great new list of shops to explore!
What are your favorite items that are Made in the USA???
