It’s Sunday again that means it’s time for one of my favorite things… Sunday Citar!!
“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.” ~Rajneesh
I can’t really express all that I want to this Mother’s Day, like the way my heart was one-upped by a love I never knew existed before my two little free-spirits were born, and was replaced with a better one… a heart that loves deeper, that lives freer, that sees with child-like awe and feels more. How my life changed for the better the day each came into this world… our world. How they’ve made me live and love with arms wide open. How they’ve created an entirely new being in me, a mother.
Today, I spent some time with my own mama as we sat with feet soaking in hot suds and let someone else paint our nails as we talked about life, and kids. Every smidgen of love and heart in me is half hers, she lives passionately. As we walked out and waved goodbye to the new friends we’d made and a little six month old being bounced on another mother’s knee, I answered a stream of conversation we’d been having with, “Being a mother is the HARDEST job I’ve ever had.” I’ve never been more tired, more stressed, felt more guilty or less capable than I have in being a mother, and yet none of it even matters. Because being a mother has also made me realize how completely capable I am simply because I love my two littles something fierce. That I can operate and thrive on less sleep that I ever thought possible, that I can multitask and prioritize… and when the need arises, throw it all out the window and run through the soft spring grass chasing after happy little feet.
I have been born into the amazing gift of Motherhood.
And so to my two precious little ones, my gifts, thanks for showing me how to really love. Cause’ oh do I love. Thanks for making me a mother. And to my mama, I wouldn’t be the mother I am today if it weren’t for you, xoxo.
A very Happy Mother’s Day to every woman who’s been born into motherhood, and to everyone that’s loved a mama.
Because it’s Mother’s Day and I can… and because my husband just took me to the mall this weekend and let me wander aimlessly through Sephora and drop items into my basket until my heart was content, one lucky commenter on this post will get their own $20 Sephora gift card to make their heart a little more content. But please tell me, what is it that you have planned for today? Is it a dinner out with your mama? A day of gardening with new flowers you’ve been gifted? I’ve requested a day at home doing as little as possible… we’ll see how that goes.

Beautiful quote and eloquent expression of what it means to you! I have been living the gift of motherhood for 24 years ~ it gets richer and more wonderful! Grilling out tonight ~ and game of scrabble with my kids!

“Being a mother is the HARDEST job” – Isn’t this so true. And it’s so true that everything that goes with motherhood being the hardest job doesn’t even matter! Sigh!
Being a mother made me realize that I have this love, and care and concern for the world and the future for the sake of my kids and all the kids of the world.

I plan to have us get some yard work done and the rest of the garden planted. And if I can squeeze in a nap, that is good too.

After treating mom to a cut, color, and highlight this week, Scott my amazing man and I treated our mothers, his grandma, and my brother to dinner on lake nepessing in Lapeer where they all met each other for the first time over steaks and prime rib and then my brother and I topped it off with a gift certificate for mom to enjoy an hour massage. Over all a fantastic day!

I am not a mom yet, but I have an awesome mom. I just ordered her an extra tall ironing board, because she is spending the summer sewing for my sister’s nursery and my new house and that is what she wants. Today? She made my brother and I lunch. Because in her words, “I am the mom and that is what I do. feed my kids.” I love her!

I went to my grandpas house to have dinner with my mom, who happened to show up later, lol.
Jeremy and I ended doing something a little creative for our mothers this time. We did photos of us spelling out mom with our hands. It was fun, and we made both moms cry. 😉

We celebrated with my Mom on Thursday, my mother-in-law on Saturday, my Father on Saturday (for his birthday!) and on Sunday I attempted to clean the house while two whiny kids hung from my ankles – a tradition over here :)I finally called it quits and insisted we play outside because the weatherman was oh, so wrong (again!) and it was too beautiful to to clean inside! I’ve never been to Sephora, but sounds like fun 🙂
