“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
~Howard Thurman
Our weekend kicked off with a trip to Ikea, but before we could get out of the driveway we had to play musical cars a few times to get our brood into the right seats… because our original plan was thwarted by a mean ole’ truck that wouldn’t start. So, an hour after we planned, we backed out of the driveway and proceeded to stack boxes onto the cart from aisle 39, bin 39 and 40; aisle 36, bin 39 and 40; and a few more random bins that I can’t remember, only to figure out how to puzzle-fit it all into the back of my girlfriend’s compact SUV while I buckled my kids into the backseat of my car.
By 10:30 Friday night, we had a couch… and a couple more boxes of which the contents have yet to be built. Because the rest of the weekend called, and instead of beach-hoppin it, we basked at home in the beautiful randomness of our everyday life… doing what makes us come alive.
Lovin’ on our littles, talking walks to the park, enjoying the sunset, afternoon swims, after-nap tickle fights. The little things that make my heart leap, because when I focus on these things, life flows just a little bit smoother and the moments become touch that much deeper. And our family-time bank accounts? Well, they just grew a little richer. I like the deposits we’ve made in them this weekend.
Enjoy the rest of yours… doing what makes you come alive.
