I had a hard time leaving Florida a couple days ago, and the early morning followed by the labyrinth of airport tunnels had me wishing I was snuggled under some crisp white linens gazing out the window at this. It’s not even about the beautiful colors and saturated sky. Not the cool blue or hot oranges creeping their way towards each other in a twisted dance. It’s not even the crisp white sheets that I adore, since I have my own crisp white sheets at home.
What I miss is the Palm trees. I miss the tropical foliage. During the summer months, my frozen climate melts away into a symphony of high double digit temperatures. But the foliage just isn’t the same as this beautiful vegetation.
But we finally made it home, and I realized I had missed what was waiting for me here at home. My crisp white sheets really are better.

Beautiful shot! I’ve been told by relatives and friends, when they come to visit during the winter, that they go into green overload shock. They don’t have the everygreens as much up north and the trees are barren. We don’t think about that much in the South. Even when it snowed in New Orleans, you could see the bright green under the snowflakes. Funny how things change..

One of the best parts of vacation is finally getting home and realizing how much it really feels like “home” after being away.

i always enjoy a great vacation but enjoy coming home and sleeping in my own bed. it’s so cozy once i’m home! palm trees are nice…that’s one thing that makes such a place so tropical and fun to visit. things we don’t normally see at home.
thanks for stopping by my blog today…i’m enjoying my ‘time off’ from blogging hanging out with my boys. just had to stop by a few of my favorites though to see what’s going on in the rest of the world!

we planted tropical plants all around our house because there weren’t enough around here… moving from charleston to nola that was the biggest change… less palms…
still, i think florida has the best foliage in the US! LOVE IT!
gorgeous photo, you creative genius you! 🙂

k, call me weird, but this pick instantly reminded me of a serious cheezy movie called ‘i still know what you did last summer’, the sequel to ‘i know what you did last summer’…i guess cause they went to a tropical island like this and this pic is kinda spooky and cool at the same time! blessings..
