He stepped out of the salon onto the bustling streets of Chicago, kicking himself for missing his appoinment only to have it rescheduled for the following day. Little did he know, that little disappointment would completely change his life.
Twenty four hours later he was walking out the same door, kicking himself again, but this time it was because he hadn’t asked her out. He couldn’t miss out on this one, there was something different. What was supposed to be a simple haircut with a new stylist turned into a conversation that neither party wanted to end.
Though they’d been in the same city for months, and shared many of the same favorite locals, their paths had never crossed. But after this? He called, they met up… and their charming rustic wedding was another beautiful chapter in their storybook of love.
Erica and David, I think I fell in love with the both of you as well. It felt like being at a friend’s wedding, and I think you’ve both become just that. Friends. I am honored to have documented your wedding… and yes, we’ll take you up on a visit to one of our favorite cities, Chicago. And you know you can come visit me at the beach soon!
Erica’s dress was gorgeous and looks like it was made just for her.
Like so many of the pretty little details, she made her own veil.
While out Christmas shopping in a department store in 2009, Erica tested Vera Wang fragrance and knew that’s what she’d wear on her wedding day… fast forward to the proposal and David presented her a bottle of it while getting down on one knee. Simply said, Vera Wang has a special place in her heart.
There’s something sweet about a connection between a mother and her son…
My favorite kind of bride… one who thinks of all the little details.
This cake left me craving buttercream… DELISH.
So many gorgeous handmade details…
Their energy and smiles were contagious… throughout the entire wedding…

Red socks + red shoes + red lips = LOVE it.
The Grand Entrance…
I loved working with this wedding party. They were an amazing group of people, and I don’t think Erica and David could have chosen anyone who cared about them more. And all the toasts? Perfect.

Such great shots ~ so many details captured! I think my favorite is the shot where she’s behind him with her arms wrapped around. Something about their expressions! We’re at the four month countdown to my daughter’s wedding…making all that detail stuff ourselves too…so this was very inspiring!!!
