I spent a couple of days last week in New York for #BloggerBash which was such a great experience (more on that later), and part of what made that experience so fantastic was taking in the Blue Man Group NYC in all their blue drum-beating glory! So even though the conference was pretty much non-stop from the moment we arrived at Chelsea Piers on Thursday morning until the time we all hugged goodbye as besties on Friday night, it was still an incredible group of mostly moms who were excited to have a little vacation away from the mommy-ing thing (I say vacation, because although it really was non-stop, someone else was changing diapers and rocking kids to sleep and everything in between). After finally making it into NYC late on Wednesday (my original plans were to catch up with some friends on that day, but the airlines and storms trolling our great skies had other plans for me), we had an amazing brunch followed by a trip to the historic Astor Place Theatre to see these men in blue.
Of course our arrival was about thirty minutes pre-show and I was all, “Oh Starbucks!” which was on the corner (ahem, it’s on almost every corner in the city), and had to make a run for it because I was still pre-coffee.
Although I was pumped on on caffeine by the time the show began, it didn’t take that for me to realize how much energy is in the room. I had the pleasure of seeing Blue Man Group for the first time in Chicago years ago, and it was high time for another dose of their witty yet whimsical intensity. Definitely a show you walk out of feeling like you were brought right into it and a part of it. In my case here, I actually was a part of it for a brief moment… maybe late, but in the show nonetheless! Check it out in the video below.

Anyway, there’s nothing like being energized by a great drumline beat, lights, interesting and entertaining blue men and egads of tissue paper… yes egads. And also, there’s nothing like being on a screen and called out in front of your peers. 😉
