It only took five years. Five years of Florida living, warm winters, beach for Christmas and total avoidance of cleaning layers of snow and ice from the windshield on a daily basis throughout the winter months to make my heart grow fond for the absolute beauty of a winter wonderland. Now? My heart had it’s own special place for the snowfall and I’m ready for another romp after our snow filled trip to Breckenridge, CO this past week.
Last year a sweet friend of mine announced her engagement and we immediately began chatting about where the big day would take place. Ultimately, they went with the gorgeous sweeping views of the mountains amongst the ski sloped village of Breckenridge, CO (about an hour and a half outside of Denver… and about 5000 miles higher, which put us at over 10,000 foot altitude and quite a bit higher than our sea-level life). It was beautiful. It was scenic. It was breathtaking, both figuratively and physically. Though we didn’t mind so much as the snow fell in whispers around us and quieted our thoughts. There is something so magical about a fresh snow, and introducing our littlest to it with some time away through a whirlwind trip with her on my hip was the perfect way to do it.
Now, we can’t wait to take the rest of our clan back to Breckenridge, CO and the Denver area, the mountains and trails would be stunning in the summer months and I’m pretty sure just as breathtaking!
