Cheers to the beginning of a great week, friends! I’m toasting with my cup of water this morning, clearly.
You may know that this past week, I spent cleaning out and shaping up my system with a full on detox (where this soup ended up helping me immensely). On the second day, I had to run in to Starbucks to get a couple of gift cards. STARBUCKS. Ugh, my weakness was laughing at me all the way through the doors and up to the bar. I’m glad everyone was so sweet especially when they asked if I wanted anything else, and I replied by rambling about my cleanse, how much I’d like something and why I couldn’t. What ever happened to a graceful and simple reply? But, the sweet barista offered me a Venti delicious water, “triple filtered; you’ll love it,” she promised. And it truly was refreshing and delicious. When not compared to my usual, of course.
Part of detoxing is water, plenty of water. So, on top of being loaded with some natural nutrients and benefits, infused water also mixes it up in the flavor department, helping to relieve those cringe moments when we don’t really feel like downing another glass.
Here are a few of my favorites, along with some of the benefits of each!
Citrus Fat Blaster
With lemon, lime and grapefruit, these citrus fruits work together to boost metabolism while it gives you a jolt of vitamin C and helps the body turn fat into fuel! I just added slices of lemon and lime to the water, but didn’t particularly care for slices of grapefruit steeping in the water… it makes it a little too bitter (you could use peeled slices, but it still is a very strong flavor). I instead just squeezed a little of the juice of grapefruit into the water.
Watermelon Flush
Watermelon helps to improve liver function as it rids the body of ammonia, which can damage cells, while the mint improves digestion. Any waters infused with mint are actually great to help alleviate stomach cramps too.
Strawberry Mint Slim Down
Besides being delicious, the strawberries are great for your skin as they fight carcinogens and have anti-aging properties! We already know how great mint is for our system and the cucumber helps you feel full while helping to relieve bloat.
Try getting in at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day, even when you’re not on a detox, and more if you are! Trust me, with that much water, you won’t mind some extra flavors and benefits while sipping. And to start your day off on the right foot, just squeeze some lemon in about eight ounces of water to get those toxins flushed from your system that make you feel sluggish and sick, you’ll definitely notice a difference when doing it regularly!

We have been drinking half our body weight in water for about six months now – SO good for me!! I’m big on lemon water – especially HOT lemon water. Love the cucs and strawberry combo. Hubby likes mint infused water the best….and often adds goji berries to his water bottle that he refills during the day. The best thing about loosing just a tad over 30 lbs?? I’m swallowing one less glass of water a day! haha! (although my dr. says that we need more water in the winter, not less as I might have guessed…oh well!)
