I’m officially in my third trimester… And craving sweets like I’m never going to be allowed sugar again! Which could be the case, since my glucose test was yesterday. But I’m choosing to be positive and assume I’ll still be allowed some sugar the rest of this pregnancy!
However, during the big move, I’ve been a little lazy on my own diet and Max’s, as eating out for a lot of meals in a row generally ends up in some questionable decisions (but that Big Mac I splurged on was delicious!). Also, my parents have been helping out and my Dad is my dessert buddy, so we tend to make bad (or really good!) decisions together. Namely the White Chocolate Raspberry Bread Pudding we had our first night here. YUM!
Sadly, I’m past the point where I should be slowing down my sugar intake and I’ve been playing around with finding some options that still satisfy my sweet tooth, but aren’t ridiculous in sugar content. I also wanted to make sure that each item had something healthy in it, so I could avoid feeling completely guilty about any of them.
In no particular order, here are my (somewhat) healthy indulgences that will work whether you are pregnant or not!
Strawberry Cheesecake Bites
Ingredients
- 8 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
- 2/3 cup Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
- 1/3 cup Sour Cream
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups Heavy Cream
- Strawberries
- Graham Cracker Crumbs
Directions
Beat together cream cheese, sugars, sour cream, lemon juice, and vanilla in a medium bowl. Set aside. In another bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated. Cut tops off strawberries and split in half lengthwise. Slice the backs of the strawberries off so they sit up. Pipe filling onto tops of strawberries and sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.

PB, Banana, and Chocolate Chips
Ingredients
- Banana
- Peanut Butter
- Chocolate Chips
Directions
Slice Banana in half both directions. Spread Peanut Butter onto flat side and top with Chocolate Chips.
Berries with Sweet Cream
Ingredients
- Berries
- 1 cup Whipping Cream
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 Tablespoon Powdered Sugar
- Angelfood Cake (optional)
Directions
Whip cream until stiff peaks form. Fold in Vanilla and powdered sugar. Top your berries and/or Angelfood cake with this yummy treat (or just use Cool Whip!).
I think each of these options are delicious, depending on what mood you are in. You should know that the Strawberry Cheesecake Bites recipe makes a LOT of filling, so you may want to halve it, unless you are using it for a party (which they would be great for!). However, I have managed to come up with some other uses for the filling, so I’m sure it won’t go to waste if you make a whole batch! It’s great on graham crackers and amazing on french toast with blueberries!
