These Epic Royal Crazy milkshakes are indulgent and WHIMSICAL! A rich, thick strawberry milkshake is topped with a sugaring of sprinkles and candies to make a deliciously epic crazy shake drink fit for a princess… or a prince. This post is sponsored by Disney Junior. This summer I’m excited to partner with them to bring you a series of fun recipes inspired by fun FRiYAY programming!
YOU GUYS, with full on freak shakes becoming a trend lately and finally hitting the US with shops serving them in New York and LA (I tried to score one while in New York this past spring but the lines were outrageously long!), what’s a better way to celebrate summer than with our own princess inspired crazy shake! Now I’ll be honest this recipe isn’t low on sugar, but sometimes you just need a fun indulgence, and I think summer is the perfect time.
I was able to bust out SO MANY fun toppers on this milkshake! And yes, we’ll get to the actual shake in a second…but how can I concentrate on that when there are pretty in pink and purple things to talk about?
This Royal Crazy Shake is covered with so many sweet, sticky and delicious things: lots of different sprinkles, including pearlescent balls, animal crackers, wafer cookies, and sour rainbow straws. All of them are optional—the crown of icing, if you will—so you can stack, stick and layer until your heart’s content. Nerds! Mini powdered sugar doughnuts! Cotton candy! You get it… the crazier we can make the shake, the better.
As for the drink itself? It’s a simple strawberry based strawberry milkshake with organic vanilla ice cream (had to get organic in there somehow! haha), frozen strawberries and a splash of milk to smooth it out. I placed the cups in the freezer to help keep the drinks cold as well. After a little trial and error, I found that it was much easier to decorate the cups FIRST, and then pour in the milkshakes. And getting the kids up to the counter to help turned this fun summer dessert recipe into an activity as well! With some frosting to make everything stick, we just spread it around the opening of the cup and dipped into sprinkles and nerds. Once the royal goblet was ready, we poured in our milkshake and finished by topping it off with all of our crazy sugary accessories.
Since I pretty much grew up on Disney princesses, I think this is a fun treat to kickoff our weekend and it perfectly pairs with our weekly Friday morning Sofia the First fix on the Disney Channel. It’s a show that takes me back to my own little princess days, and one that all of my kids like to watch… yep even the older siblings! You can tune in with us for the FRiYAY morning block on the Disney Channel, since this is where these Disney Junior shows premiere this summer!
