Something I love about the approach of a holiday is planning the family dinner… or family breakfast, or even brunch! Spending time with those you love around the table just becomes that much more special when there’s something to celebrate, and sharing those moments over a good meal is always something to celebrate.
There are so many ways to enjoy a good pancake family breakfast, but when you can get to making them together in the kitchen, and find the most festive pancake toppings, well, the family breakfast just became that much more exciting!
As we ease our way from fall to Christmas and then into the new year, we have plenty of options for a pancake breakfast (or serving breakfast for dinner, another family favorite of ours), so I like to whip up a few festive toppings to have on hand, like whipped cinnamon pumpkin butter (Skylar’s top choice!) and whipped gingerbread butter (my top choice).
The Ancient Romans called pancakes ‘Alita Dolcia’ which means ‘another sweet’.
Soft Schools
These festive butters are SO good on muffins, biscuits, dinner rolls, and of course, our Krusteaz pancakes!
If there’s one thing I know as a parent, it’s that we all want the best for our kids, even and maybe especially when it comes to mealtimes. That desire doesn’t always translate into real life though once our busy schedules start to fill and all the little taste and texture preferences come into play.
One of our favorites for busy mornings or even crammed weekends is a simple pancake spread with ALL the flavorful and seasonal toppings because everyone gets to choose exactly what they like AND fill their bellies.
I like using Krusteaz to brighten our family’s pancake routine… because I only have to mix with water (SO easy for me, and especially when I have a little helper in the kitchen!!) and I can count on their delicious, quality ingredients, no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
It is common in France to touch the handle of the frying pan and to make a wish while the pancake is turned, holding a coin in one hand.
