I’m sharing my favorite beauty routines that maintain my summer glow as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #Aveeno. All tips and opinions are mine alone.
It’s the time of year where the weather is beginning to change (even in Florida!), and with those weather changes come pesky skin changes as well. So while I’m enjoying pumpkin spice everything, trading out nail polishes for gorgeous deep neutrals, swapping out bright red lipsticks for berry tones and vampy deep colors and baking up a storm in the kitchen… it’s also time to change things up a bit in my skincare routine. It is possible to keep that summer glow going strong through the colder months, even when dry brittle air tries to make our skin echo the cold climate sentiment.
Below are a just a few simple and easy steps to maintain your dewy glow!
Smooth out skin.
Before you can really see smooth glowing skin, it’s important to exfoliate! We don’t want to let our skin react to the elements and cooler air with dry patches and uneven tone. And no matter the season, it won’t matter how much cleansing or moisturizing we do, our skin can use a little help relieving the top layer of dead skin cells before causing issues. As we age, cell regeneration slows causing those dead skin cells to remain on the skin causing dull and uneven skin tones, leaving our face looking rough and dry and can even lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Help out once a week by gently using a scrub to reveal healthy, glowing skin (just make sure not to over exfoliate, so as not to irritate your skin.) I love this gentle oil free scrub or creating my own to clear up skin with ingredients from my kitchen!
Moisturize.
For the longest time I tried to avoid moisturizer because my skin would get oily… BAD move. Since I was depriving my skin of the moisture it needed, it would then begin to produce more oil to compensate, leading to all kinds of issues. Now, I make sure to have an oil free moisturizer with an SPF to use daily.
No matter what skin type you have, there is a moisturizer for you! All skin types can use an oil-free, hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic moisturizer, because no one needs clogged pores… the goal here is moisture, not adding compounding problems to your skin. So find one like AVEENO® Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 so that you can get your daily dose of moisture and sun protection (something I didn’t use before and I’ve learned that it’s SO important, no matter the weather!). With ACTIVE NATURALS® Total Soy Complex and natural light diffusers in this moisturizer, it works to naturally even skin tone and texture and help improve the look of brown spots in about 4 weeks.
Hydrate from within.
While it’s important to moisturize your skin with a great moisturizer to suit your skin, it’s also imperative to hydrate from within! Moisturization is more than skin deep, and it really does start from the inside out. Water is your number one tool to fighting off aging skin and should be the first in your arsenal. When you’re giving your body the water that it needs to function, you’re replenishing your skin cells as well which in turn will give your skin a moist, smooth and fresh appearance. On the other hand, when you’re dehydrated, your skin is one of the first organs to suffer, causing dry, wrinkled skin with a grayish tint.
If you’re not a fan of water on it’s own, try adding in fruits or vegetables to improve flavor and give extra benefits like detoxification. I love adding in a drop of essential oils to mine as well to reap the immense benefits, and have even started using electrolyzed alkaline water in our home.
Fake it.
With the advent of “strobing” taking over the makeup scene (goodbye contouring, hello highlighting!), well, I’m not saying you need to skip over the first three steps we talked about, but while working on adding moisture to your fall/winter routine, go ahead and fake the glow! And really, I think even when you’re perfected the natural dewy glow, it’s alright to add a little strobing in your life. Seriously, it’s a fun trend and I’m loving my illuminators lately. 🙂
I’m all ready to keep a dewy glow going all winter, what about you? Any tips I missed? I’d love to hear. Happy fall loves.
XO

I used to use that Aveeno moisturizer years ago. I don’t remember why I stopped, but I should check it out again. I love how my skin feels after exfoliating as well. So smooth!
