Lakeland Fashion Week

A couple of weeks ago I experienced the first ever Lakeland Fashion Week, which we be an annual fashion week here in Florida! The great thing about being a part of the first annual event, is knowing that it’s going to just continue to grow and expand, but feeling the raw excitement, emotions and heart of the people behind it all and the local emerging designers was part of what made it such a fabulous week long showcase. 

There were a few amazingly talented designers in the mix of local artists and boutiques, some of which who had just finished showing at New York Fashion Week or whose looks graced the covers of national magazines… and the opportunity to meet them in person and talk about goals, growth and design aesthetic was such an incredible thing. Lately, Lakeland has been putting itself on the map with the rise of great coffee joints, eateries and shops and LFW is just another reason to take a look in that direction. There are so many creatives that realize just how far a little collaboration can go. 

Here’s a look at LFW in just three minutes! The video we put together showcases the wearable denim art from Grier Co., the beautiful designs by Ari J and Jay Hunt Designs, and the swimsuit lineup of Allusions by A. Lekay that also caught the attention of Cosmo fashion editor and cover model Nicki Minaj this past summer… and of course a little behind the scenes as well!

We also had a great time exploring the city a bit, finding coffee shops to duck into… and also trying the pre-release Coffee Pop from The Hip Lion. I have to say, I’m still not even sure about it. It was good, it was so different and I think it would be great with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream! Also, there is a pumpkin flavor that I haven’t tried yet, but am curious to try.  

You guys, I’m excited for what’s to come for LFW next year… I’ve heard the rumblings of even bigger and even better!
