I’m runnin’ on fumes.
Now that we’re all home, and though we have been for the past week, it feels like I’m just now finding that routine again… the routine that says HOME. Days have been packed from the moment we wake until the time we carry heavy little sleeping bodies to their beds and tuck them in. And in full-on enjoying the small moments fashion, since the weather here this week has been amazing, we’re drinking that up as well… jetting off to the park at a moments notice to soak up some sun and dip our toes in the sand as we make pretend “drinks” to serve to friends and get trucks stuck on top of hand made mountains.
Oh, and we’ve learned we have a sleep-walker in our home. A sleep walker that loves evening conversations as we carefully try to scoot her slow-moving body back to bed.
This all makes for one tired mama, falling into my pillows well past midnight only to wake up and soothe a tired little soul back to slumber. Kind of reminds me of New York.
Have I mentioned I miss New York? I do.
Riding the stroller tandem was a daily occurrence.
Who knew 6th Avenue was the new Disney World?!
I think my kids miss the energetic vibe that you can’t help but sway to while you’re in the city.
And if it’s not the energetic vibe you’re swaying to, it’s the constant music that fills most street corners. This guy provided the perfect soundtrack to littles playing in Washington Square Park, he was amazing. We left a good tip.
I love the couple holding each other in the background of this photo. Dancing in the park… yes, please.
Can I just say that these two know how to make friends? Because they do. And none of the kids there that day wanted to leave, even when it began to rain on us.
New York in the Spring totally slays me, it’s when the city gets a big smile and people stretch their friendliness… cause we all know New Yorkers aren’t known for either. But in the Spring, there’s this feeling of new beginnings, and something about it makes the city’s frown turn around.
Maybe it’s the way the grid of streets gets a welcoming face lift with greens and blossoms billowing out of every inch of dirt found in the concrete city. Maybe it’s the walks through Central Park where a bright sky cradles the city buildings through a filter of lush treetops.
The Central Park carousel… one of our annual stops.
I miss the views.
These are from the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center).
And the way Chris navigates the city like a rockstar.
I miss the way the sun peaks it’s head over the buildings lining a blue sky.
And the amazing energy of the city.
And carting sleeping littles back to their beds, tucking them in under a window of twinkling lights.
And though we’re far from the bright lights of the big city in the drastic difference that is our small town…
We are HOME, where the pitter patter of little feet along the wooden planks of our halls make me happy and the Spring breeze through the soft green grass and blooming tulips of our yard make me smile. We are home and home is good.
