We wrapped our Memorial Day with a moon walk on the shore just as the sun dipped behind the horizon. A storm somewhere off the coast lavished us with gifts of gray skies and high winds, but sunset? Sunset still delivered with a bright pink show, and as we walked on the edge of land and sea, the remnants of high winds twisting the waters far away washed over our feet and white foamy waves nipped at our knees.
We brought sparklers, a novel idea. It would have been a blast come nightfall, if we were able to light them. But the fierce winds had other ideas for our evening, so flinging sand and swaying to the rhythm of the guitar is what we did.
As soon as our car door opens and the salty air whips through, I smile. I’ve got this “packing a beach bag” thing down now, and though the evening doesn’t call for the usual sun screen and SPF lip balm, one tip I love… baby powder. Sprinkle a little on your feet by the car and the last bits of sticky sand will wipe right off. Sprinkle a bit during that last diaper change when switching back from swim diaper to regular, and your baby will thank you for a fresh bottom rather than a sandy one.
And since it seems like we’re either sun screened, soaked and swimming with friends or running out for a last minute quickie sunset at the beach… my new favorite and MUST have accessory for summer? A waterproof, dustproof and shockproof case for my iPhone, for Instagramming of course.

Which just so happened to be used very heavily this weekend, so that we could have the proper bike ride/beach music at our fingertips and my phone’s camera at the ready.

I am always spilling and dropping things. This would be a lifesaver! I am buying an iphone in 3-4 months once we are stationed in Florida. OMG!! I love that case! I have thought about it ever since the Super Bowl party. Remember when gabby or her sister dropped her iPhone in the hot tub and everyone was like, NOOOO! And she pulled it out and it had that magnificent cover! So amazing. We looked it up online and the price was scary… Lol. Anywho, I have thought about it ever since.
