“Homecoming means coming home to what is in your heart.”
~Author Unknown
Daddy comes home today.
In fact, at this moment, as I sit cross legged on my bed, straining to see the screen through half-closed eyelids while my littles dream away the moments till they see daddy with each rhythmic breath, he is slowly making his way to us. And sometime in the morning, could be early, could be late… but while the bright yellow rays steal across the sky chasing away the dark of night until there’s no trace left, we’ll see each other again.
While he’s been gone, I tried to up the ante by scheduling a couple of photoshoots, wrap up a few projects and still wanted him to come home to a clean house where I actually remembered to drag overflowing garbage pails to the curb along with a few other items waiting in our basement after one of our packing binges. I think there’s something empowering about taking care of a household without your other half around to pick up the slack. And to one-up myself, doing it better, faster each time? Well, that’s just part of the fun. It’s part of my DNA.
The past few days have been wet.
But we decided to venture out, pajama clad, into the puddles anyway. Collecting crabapples, throwing them and laughing hysterically.
And then… strange noise comes from camera… and no more focus.
So a change of scenery and change of lens later, we’re looking at letter blocks sprawled across the floor between boxes of packed dolls and blankets.
And each and every similar moment this week was just as small and simple, yet just as grand.
Eagerly awaiting the return of the heartbeat of our home.

Glad your heart is on his way. Throwing them is all I ever have known crab apples to be good for. I am sure I missed something. Adorable photos… but eek for your lens.

Great images of the day to day moments that add up to make our lives full! Your way more productive that I used to be when my husband travelled…I had the play with the kids part down, but confess that I tended to take more of a ‘vacation’ than you did! Whatever the time apart produced, the homecoming was always wonderful!! ENJOY!

I love the last two pictures – just precious! And.. I thought it was neat to see that huge Home Depot moving box and the toy blocks. Sounds like you had a lot of progress and still enjoyed life too!
