New OrleansWhen we move, I tend to get a little wrapped up in the minutia of the actual act and sometimes it takes me a few months to start enjoying our new place. I decided this move would be different! I gave myself a few days to get the house in functioning order and then I made a list of everything left and decided to do it slowly while I spent time enjoying the new locale.

So far, I’ve come up with 3 Louisiana favorites and I know there will be plenty more to come!

Number One // Zapp’s Cajun Dill Gator-Taters

What can I say??? I’m pregnant! But these potato chips would be delicious even if I wasn’t! Frankly, I saw the name “Gator-tater” and I was sold. I highly recommend them and plan on trying a few more flavors soon!IMG_20140517_122729

Number Two // Honey Island Swamp Tour

We are living on the North Shore of Lake Ponchartrain, so we aren’t actually in New Orleans proper. Luckily, the swamps are still nice and close! With visitors in town, I decided to give them a day off from household organizing and take a recommended swamp tour. I knew it would be fun, but it was pretty crazy with all the wildlife we saw!IMG_20140609_093333IMG_20140611_061854

Number Three // Beignets

While I haven’t made it to the famous Cafe Du Monde for their beignets, I have managed to sample them at a couple other places. They are pretty much a pregnant woman’s dream food! My favorite so far has been Morning Call and as you can see from the below photos, Max is also a huge fan. His favorite part was when the owner taught him how to properly dust his beignet with powdered sugar. He promptly needed to add “just a little more, Mommy!” after each bite.IMG_20140518_153150IMG_20140518_153348IMG_20140518_154647

Do you have any favorite places that you’ve been you’d like to share from the last few weeks?
