Though it’s going to feel like summer here in Florida for a long while, the tick tocks of the clock are counting down to school, and we’re living up the last bits of official summer with trips to the beach and a chocolate fondue party! So, maybe it was more of a chocolate fondue “dessert for dinner” type of escapade, but seriously, mention the word “party” to my kids and they flip! I mean, my house was clean in ten minutes and they were dressed and ready. Of course, midway through our snack sesh, Brayden looks at me with those wide, curious eyes and asked, “When is everyone getting here?” Sorry kiddo, this party was just for us, which meant more chocolate for us too! (And that part he didn’t seem to mind one bit.)
Only two simple ingredients creates this deliciously smooth chocolate fondue, perfect for your next party or really even as a fun after school snack that your kids won’t soon forget. Just serve with your favorite snacks that you probably already have in your cupboard for a simple kid friendly chocolate fondue party (fountain not required, but it is totally fun right?!).
To make the chocolate fondue:
Pour a bag of chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl. Add in two tablespoons heavy cream (or you can even substitute with coconut or vegetable oil if you don’t have cream). Microwave for three minutes and stir until smooth and creamy.
Optional:
For an extra bit of flavor, add in a couple tablespoons of peanut butter!
For the dippers:
Get really creative and have lots of fun. It’s all starts by pulling out your favorite snacks. We usually have plenty on hand since my kids are hard-core snackers, especially in these summer months when we like to get in the car and explore, play at the beach or lounge at the pool and need snacks. Seriously, t’s never hard to find a box or two of Horizon Honey or Chocolate Grahams in our house. With Horizon I know that there is nothing fake, processed or complicated – just easy and convenient snack and lunch ideas that support my family’s healthy lifestyle… you know, when we’re not bingeing on chocolate. For our party, I also had some fruit snacks on hand, and surprisingly they were really good dipped in chocolate, like really good. Other options are marshmallows, pretzels, strawberries, bananas, apple slices, pineapple chunks, cereal treats, waffles, donut holes, potato chips, bacon (yep, SO good). Really, you can dip just about anything in chocolate and it will be good, so have fun and experiment! Kids always love playing with their food, so this is a great excuse! If you feel up to it, make a game out of it to see what everyone likes and of course, it never hurts to make some silly faces in the process. 😉
