I’m still trying to lose my last few pounds of baby weight. So, while I’m always trying to eat healthy, I’m really trying to avoid too many sweets right now because they are always my downfall!
Currently I’ve been doing well, but I usually hit a mid-afternoon slump when all I want is some chocolate or something sweet. I would normally grab some chocolate chips or marshmallows, or swipe some leftover Easter candy, but I’m working hard to avoid that because then all of the sudden I’ve eaten All. The. Candy. Whoops!
So, I scoured Pinterest and while I couldn’t find a recipe that I really liked, I got a few ideas and came up with my own. The key for me is making sure I have enough ice because the protein with the extra water makes it super filling and then I don’t feel hungry again until dinner.
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Milk (or Almond or regular!)
- 1/4 Cup Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Honey
- 1/2 Frozen Banana
- 1 Cup Ice
- Mix all the ingredients in a blender.
- Add lots of ice to keep your sipping on your delicious chocolate shake and avoid feeling hungry!

As you can see, my 4 year old could barely handle waiting for me to take photos… And it’s preschooler approved! I had to keep stealing it to get any for myself!
Do you have any great healthy afternoon treats that will satisfy my sweet tooth??? Please share!
You can use any chocolate protein powder in this recipe. Tabitha and I have been using Isagenix lately, and that’s what I used for this recipe, which was delicious!
And he’s just so cute, I couldn’t resist sharing these outtakes:

if you blend one ripe banana with one tablespoon cocoa powder and one small avocado you get the best “chocolate mousse” ever! ( way better than the real deal!)
