While I’m currently in Miami for the week for work and enjoying my family, the beach and the sunshine while here it’s also been a whirlwind of activity! I can tell you that two adults and three little ones in a Miami-sized hotel room is an accomplishment in itself, and I have to say, we’ve found ways to make it work so well. Yes, it’s fun and crazy and I so love having them all here with me!
Just before I flew out of town my husband and I kept up our commitment to keep dating each other by pressing pause in our schedules and stealing a few moments away (thankful when parents are in town too… so helpful!!) With wee ones and diapers, laundry, commitments, work and deadlines, it’s SO important to keep that spark alive with time together (while trying to avoid too much conversation about work or said laundry). Many times we’ll create a date night in at home when we can’t get away… but I just love checking out local places with my man, and Bar Taco is fairly new to our area and has been on my radar since opening.
Our stroll through the quaint, lit streets of Hyde Park Village landed us in the welcoming doors of Bar Taco. With it’s rustic, slightly nautical meets vintage vibe, we knew right away we were in for a fun night. Nestled into a booth we chatted with the uber friendly staff who wasn’t short on recommendations. Tacos came to the table quickly, served almost family style on a tray and we plated servings of Mexican grilled street corn, guacamole and fresh tacos onto our own trays. The whole experience made us crave more as soon as we left, and vow to return as soon as possible. I think it would be a great place to bring friends or family for a great night out and a walk through Hyde Park afterwards.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying the gelato, and basically fell in love all over again! Here is the full rundown of what we tried (and swooned over), and I don’t think there is one bad thing on the menu:
Appetizers/sides: Guacamole + Grilled Corn
Tacos: Baja Fish + Chicken + Sesame Ribeye (our favorite!) + Duck
Desserts: Coconut Gelato + Mint Chip Gelato

Great place for a date or even family night out. Wait staff and managers were awesome. Definitely a new favorite.
