Are you thinking about starting juicing? Juicing has become part of our family’s new year mission to live healthier happier lives. But we quickly knew that an easy clean juicer needed to be part of our lives if we were going to stay committed.
Don’t get me wrong, every juicer needs to be cleaned, but these new easy clean juicers are supposed to do the majority of the work for you. And that sounded pretty great to us.
I’ve got my hands full just keeping the juice OFF of the floor and going into my toddler’s mouths once the juice is made – I don’t want to spend another 20 minutes cleaning it, too.
For years we’ve had and used a Champion Juicer, and it truly is a champion, that thing tackles everything. But, it’s also a masticating juicer, with a small chute, it’s quite loud and takes a lot of prep time (because of the small chute) and clean up time – it’s most definitely not an easy clean juicer.
Because if this, it’s been on a shelf for quite some time.
Our calling to find an easy clean juicer that actually works brought us down a rabbit hole. But the result is a great review for you, and a juicer that works great for our family!
Keep reading for our critique of the 5 juicers we tried, and which easy clean juicer we think is worth every penny.

Benefit of Juicing
Before we dive in let me tell you why our family started juicing. Over the last year, I’ve been working on eating better, staying hydrated, and trying to live my best life. And I totally want these things for my family too.
Juicing is said to:
- boost your immune system
- reduce your risk of cancer
- aid digestion
- help you lose weight
- remove toxins from your body
I am all about getting these amazing benefits of juicing for the kids. But the most important, less thought of, benefit from juicing is that you will consume the nutrients from more fruits and vegetables.
That’s a biggy with a family of six children.
The biggest difference between juicing and eating whole fruits is fiber. So, juicing is a great way to get varied micro-nutrients from a variety of fruits and veggies all at the same time.
Easy Clean Juicer Review
We recently saw an ad for a self cleaning juicer and it had us thoroughly intrigued.
Our goal was to test out a few juicers in similar and affordable price ranges and see which one worked best for our family home and busy lifestyle.
What We Needed in an Easy Clean Juicer:
- An easy clean juicer
- A juicer that can handle a higher volume of output (so we can juice once for about three days’ worth of juice)
- An affordable price-point
- A larger food chute (we were used to a very small chute which means more prep time in cutting food into small pieces)
- Easy to use
- Low noise volume
We tried out 7 juicers using the exact same recipe to test the ease of use and output — and ended up actually returning two before even testing them — and this is what we found.
The recipe: A mean green juice!
A Mean Green Juice
Green juice recipe from Joe Cross – a great juice for boosting your immune system and keeping your whole body clean, healthy, and happy.
Ingredients
- 1 whole cucumber
- 1 green apple
- 5 stalks of kale
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 whole lemon
- (The recipe also calls for an inch of ginger, which we forgot to add in… hello mommy brain!)
Instructions
- Wash all fruit and vegetables well.
- Add all ingredients through the juicer.
- Enjoy!
And now, let’s put the juicers to the test:
Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus Centrifugal Juicer – $149.95
Yield: 24oz
This juicer had the driest pulp of them all. Although, strangely, the yield was still the same.
We liked this juicer, it was quiet and sturdy with a large food chute. Cleaning was pretty straightforward and simple, although it didn’t have a self-cleaning function. This was also the highest price of juicer that we tried and didn’t find a noticeable difference between this one and the rest which were around $50 less.
AMZCHEF Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor, Cold Press Juicer – $105.99
Yield: N/A
BUST!
We actually didn’t even finish juicing with this one.
Now, it is a masticating juicer, instead of a centrifugal juicer like the others we’ve tested. With that said, we have had a Champion Juicer for years that works like, well, a champion (and the price reflects that at $365). The issue we’ve had with this type of juicer, though, is that it has a VERY small opening which means prep work takes longer since you have to slice everything into small pieces. Even a cucumber wouldn’t fit!
For this juicer, it worked so slowly, and the food kept getting stuck. We ditched the juice early on, and pulled out our Oster juicer to finish.
– $99.99
Yield: 24oz
The self cleaning didn’t seem to get much off of the filter and this easy clean juicer still needed a lot of washing to get clean.
During our juicing, I had to power off a few times and check the machine because it was shaking quite a bit and even started smoking at one point! This is the juicer that got us starting on this “test” in the first place and we were really excited about the idea of “self-cleaning”. Ultimately though, we were very unimpressed and it was definitely a return for us.
– $99 – $129.99
Yield: 24oz
The self cleaning function on this juicer removed much of the pulp and debris from the filter! There is still cleaning involved on any juicer, but for this one we felt that giving everything a good rinse after juicing was enough — it totally checked our boxes for an easy-to-clean juicer! It also felt very sturdy, even when juicing an entire lemon (with the peel on) and apple (which gave other juicers a harder time), and the noise level was on the quiet side. It is a higher price point than some of the other juicers we tried, but for the ease of use, I’d say it deserves two thumbs up.
We purchased this easy clean juicer at Target with same day pickup and then found it on Amazon for only $99. Thankfully Target price matches!
Mueller Austria Juicer Ultra 1100W Power, Easy Clean Extractor Press Centrifugal Juicing Machine – $69.97
Yield: 24oz
Within this specific price point, this is my top choice. It wasn’t as sturdy feeling as some of the more expensive options, but it wasn’t bad either. The noise level was also on the low end, which was surprising for it being almost half of the price of some of the other juicers we tried.
Another plus in this price point? The volume it can juice. We ended up NOT even testing some other juicers in the same price range, because they said to only juice for a minute and then wait for a minute before starting again, as well as only juicing for 15 minutes in total. This wouldn’t work for us and our goal of juicing once to create enough juice for three days! This juicer seemed to handle the volume and use.
Our Fresh Mommy Approved top choice in juicers for the family:
Oster Self-Cleaning Professional Juice Extractor
The Last Thought on Juicing
Juicing is a great way to entice children to consume more fruits and vegetables. Sometimes, children may not like the flavor of green juices. If you have a failed juice, try adding apples, oranges, or pear to your recipe.
It’s amazing what a couple of apples can do.
Using the easy clean juicer has been a game-changer for a quick healthy breakfast juice. It’s a great addition to our sheet pan pancakes. Everyone gets what they want plus a powerful kick of nutrients.
In the end, the Oster Self-Cleaning Professional Juice Extractor had a great performance at a good price. If it can perform for our big family, we feel comfortable recommending it to you, our friends.
