How exciting is it to get a gift, and then… upwrap it?! The enjoyment factor is definitely more fully realized when you can open it in front of friends or loved ones, and that’s what this new Unboxing series is all about! We will take some of our favorite subscription services and unbox them for you, sharing our love of opening gifts AND what’s in the boxes that we love getting to our doorstep!
So today, I’m sharing with you one I’ve been trying for the past month or so… Rocksbox. This service is basically like Netflix but with premium jewelry. For just under $20/month, you get access to unlimited pieces of designer jewelry selected for you based on a short style survey you take when you join and what you place on your wish list.
Then the fun begins! Within a few days, you’ll received your first box with three hand-selected pieces to wear on loan. You can wear them as much as you’d like for as long as you’d like. If you really fall in love with a piece, you can opt to buy it out at a discount and keep it forever, plus each month you’re gifted with $10 to spend towards any purchase. Or when you’re finished wearing your items, just pack them back up in the pre-paid envelope that came with your box and ship it back. Within about two days, you’ll receive notification that your box was received and a few days after that, you’ll have another box in your hands! (The average wait time between for me has been about a week, not too bad). Make sure to rate your items online to insure faster delivery of the next new box!
Rocksbox says that each set you receive is valued at around $200 (I’m sure that’s the highest retail price of course), and I will say, I’ve been pretty pleased with my items. You can add as many items to your wish list (the more, the better they say… and so I need to add more), and I’ve found that you usually get one wish-listed item along with two other items selected for you from a stylist based off of your style profile and personality. While I haven’t fallen in love so much that I’ve purchased any of the pieces yet, and thus won’t have this jewelry in my own collection for years to come, I’ve been enjoying access to a wide array of designer items without even having to leave my home to shop. With three kids, whatever I can do without spending time trekking them through a mall, I will! Because of that, this has been fun and worth it. The cost isn’t too high and I can get through about 2 (almost three) boxes in a month, which is a fun way to mix up my jewelry selection without actually hoarding more things in our own space (and that’s also something I’m all about lately!). And of course, if I really hate to separate with an item too much, I can buy it and keep it all for myself. 😉 In all honesty, I’m not sure how long I’ll keep using it, but if I ever need to give up a couple of Starbucks runs in a month to keep it going, I totally would! Just the joy of playing with new-to-me jewelry is worth it.
What do you think? Have you tried Rocksbox before? Have any other subscription services you use and love?
If you want to try this one free for a month, just use code freshmommyXOXO to score that deal… and if you do, I’d love to hear what you think about it!

Thanks so much Jennifer!!! I’m with you… well, I actually like shopping, but now with three kids, I don’t get a chance to very often, and I don’t like lugging them through a shopping experience. That’s not fun for any of us! haha.
Online shopping and subscriptions are totally my jam! 🙂
