It was a day he’d been waiting for. Stacks of red, blue and black lined the counters and a scene on the wall transported us to the city. Soon, the doors opened and little masked friends poured in. The picture before us was just what he’d wanted, my little 6 year old hero. Super he definitely is, and in his own words, it was the best party ever.
The day was about him, for him, and a celebration with something for all the little ones! Lego car races, a superhero dress up wall, a DIY (decorate your own) Lego sugar cookie, plenty of blocks, Lego Superhero video games and so many rainbowed sticky, sweet things.
My theory for parties is that sugar get’s a total green light. And in keeping with that theory, we let excited little sticky fingers work their magic on Lego sugar cookies with a ribbon of colorfully filled bowls of frosting and M&Ms. It was sweet in oh so many ways.
That’s not all those little fingers got into though, in their bag of goodies, was their own building set… a mini Lego car to race down the ramp (yep, just a plywood plank and it totally worked)! This one may have needed a little more help from parents for a few of the youngsters, but eventually all cars were built and it was off to the races!
With a loft of Lego superhero video games, superhero gliders, a cheery number 6 full of candy and more, it was enough to keep everyone moving, busy and entertained, and a few adult conversations were even had between chasing little legs around our studio.
What an amazing day with an amazing group of friends, family and wee ones!! I’m SO grateful and SO thankful for this family of mine, we’re growing in so many ways; in number, in age, in love and in life together. Having these different personalities to cherish and raise has taught me and I know that each day is a new learning experience for us all. My heart swells at Brayden’s words, his heart and his ever-giving love, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate his six years of life with us than with a party full of just what he wanted… a Lego Superhero Party.
