Don’t miss these 10 cute, fun and DIY Family Costumes for Halloween with ideas for all ages! Or need a costume idea for a group, we’ve got that covered as well.
Typically at this time of year, I’m scanning Pinterest, trolling google and looking up every superhero to find a troupe that could be easily duplicated in costume form… family costume that is. Our kids are still young enough that we can find something that makes each of them happy, and then of course, if they want to break into their own stash of dress-up stuff to mix it up later on; that’s fine too.
This year though? Chris and I will be setting sail on a cruise through the Eastern Caribbean and will be away the entire week of Halloween, which means Nana and Papa will be taking care of the littles. What this also means is that we’re totally avoiding the family get-up this year, and I was actually surprised to hear the simultaneous excitement as well as slightly slumped shoulders in disappointment. The whole, “You mean we can pick out any costume we want?!” pretty much made up for it though.
Of course, when you have a multitude of choices, sometimes it becomes THAT much harder to choose… and that’s where each of my kids have ended up. I’m thinking the return of the family costume may just be a welcome idea next year.
Since we’re taking the super easy route this year (and now that I think of it, I probably need to round up a couples costume for the cruise, so send me your ideas on that!), I thought I’d round up 10 fairly easy and cute Halloween family costumes for you this year. They are all super fun, relatively easy on the budget and time and are super legit. Read on for all 10 costume ideas!

The Incredibles’ Halloween Family Costumes
This is probably one of my favorite costumes that we’ve done together, and it’s also one of our top costume pins on Pinterest!! To create this Incredibles family costume, I rounded up red tights, black shorts (or underwear), black boots (Brayden has black socks covering up his colorful rain boots!), and red long-sleeve tees that I used felt and a hot glue gun to create the logo (you can download from my post with the step-by-step here). A little orange tape and the look was all set!
Circus Halloween Family Costumes
When you have a large family, finding a group that can all go together gets to be more and more difficult. This one appeased my little guy’s desire to be a lion and everyone else had so much fun with it too! We DIY’d the whole family circus costume, and of course, I was the ring leader ;). This is seriously another one I LOVED doing!! Get the full step-by-step here.
Rag Doll Halloween Family Costumes
Whether you’re looking for something for the whole family or just want to dress up the kids, which is what we did a few years ago with this Raggedy Ann and Andy costume, you could all go with the rag doll look!

Great idea from Bel and Beau, and another option from Barefoot Blonde as well!
Coco Halloween Family Costumes

I was looking at all kinds of fun family ideas, from Harry Potter to Beauty and the Beast, but ultimately, my littlest is obsessed with Coco and there are enough characters to make this a REALLY fun and fairly simple DIY for the whole family. With some great black and white face paint, a shopping trip to Goodwill or some resale shops, skeleton gloves and a guitar (could be picked up at a resale shop if you don’t have one), the whole family can be a part of the musical fun. PS. Carmen Valentina’s Insta feed is seriously incredible!
Do you like dressing up?! I have to admit, actually making a family costume isn’t my favorite, but the memories created from it are so worth it! Let me know in a comment what your favorite cute Halloween family costumes are!!
