ingWe’re sharing this year’s DIY gift wrapp idea in this post is sponsored by Energizer.
We’re in the homestretch… it’s the WEEK OF CHRISTMAS! Our home is so excited, though I have to say, with Christmas falling on a weekend and school all this week, it still seems like we’re in normal life routine and preparing for Christmas on the side.
In an effort to be all ready and prepared for a bit of time off, I’m getting the presents wrapped, the pantry stocked and making sure we’ve got the essentials to spend those precious hours at home without the need to run to the store… you know, we want to stay in our Christmas pjs for as LONG as possible!
I like to share how I wrap gifts every year, and I have to say, I’m still using and loving our roll of butcher block paper. You guys!!! I’ve been using this for everything from present wrapping to table covering to mess catching for a couple of years now, and I still haven’t finished the roll (a good roll of butcher block paper lasts me a good two years!). Isn’t that insane?
I love how easy this simple paper can be to use and to customize for a DIY gift wrap, from stamping to painting, the look can be totally changed.
This year, I kept it simple with some twine and I picked up a box of bobbles from the dollar spot at Target (can we all just admit that place is awesome AND takes my money?). I wanted to add a pop of subtle color, so I opted for greenery to keep a more natural look. With some eucalyptus, rosemary or any other sprigs of green that you can find, just a little bit is all that’s needed!
These presents still needed a bit more oomph, so with some gold paint I had on hand, it was easy to take it up a notch. A few freehand golden stripes and gold dots finished off the look and our presents are ready to make merry!
Here’s the thing, even though the holidays ARE here and we have so much to do there’s an item that is easy to forget, but is quite the holiday essential – a battery. I’m telling you, go add it to your shopping/grocery lists right now so that you’ll be prepared when the time comes. We want to help you make sure those precious Christmas moments are protected and those toys can be powered up right away… and we’ve already stocked up on some Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries, the #1 longest-lasting AA batteries, and feature leak resistant construction to protect those shiny new toys and devices.
But even with the coolest toys under the tree (at least the battery powered ones), happy faces can turn into sad ones if the batteries were forgotten or they can’t make it through New Year’s. And that usually means “find batteries” is added to your already long to-do list… and friend, I so don’t want that to interrupt your merry making this year.
Yep, we totally have a drawer of them and they need to be able to last through all of my kiddos relentless playing (and dancing!… you’ll know what I mean if you see my Insta stories). So, add batteries to your own stock for Christmas or onto the gifts you’ll be passing out this year… it’s the perfect accompaniment to your DIY gift wrap.
According to Energizer’s survey (in 2016 and 2017):
-
- 54% of parents run out to buy batteries last minute around the holidays.
-
- Two in five moms have forgotten batteries for a holiday gift.
-
- 85% of parents remember the look of delight when their child saw a battery-powered toy come to life for the first time.
- 81% of parents say battery-powered devices keep them sane on long holiday trips.
See, the right batteries truly can be a life saver … or at least in this case, a sanity saver 😉
So tell me, what’s your favorite way to wrap gifts for the season? Do you DIY? Are you stocked up on batteries as well? I’d love to hear!
