Okay, fellow busy parents – I’m about to share my latest sanity-saving DIY project! As a mom of six (yes, you read that right!) and entrepreneur, my “me time” is about as rare as a quiet house. And let’s be honest, sometimes mama just needs to work from the comfort of her bed, am I right?

The Lightbulb Moment
Picture this: It’s 6 AM, I’m trying to squeeze in some work before the morning chaos begins, balancing my laptop on a pillow (we’ve all been there), and my coffee is precariously perched on my nightstand where I have to strain to actually reach it. That’s when it hit me – I needed a table that could roll right over my bed! Bonus points if it could disappear when not in use because, let’s face it, our house isn’t exactly a mansion and we need things to be pretty and functional!

The “Why Didn’t I Think of This Sooner?” Solution
Here’s what you’ll need (super simple, I promise!):
- 3 Pieces of Wood
- 6 Wooden Dowel Pins
- 4 Metal Brackets
- 4 Castor Wheels
- Wood Glue
- Screws

The “Actually Pretty Easy” Build Process
- First up, we measured the height of our bed. Don’t forget: Add a few inches so you can get your legs under it! 😅
- Cut the wood to size. Pro tip: Painters tape helps keep your cuts clean from splitting.
- Screw in 4 holes on each end of the top board. Make sure you don’t go all the way through.
- Fill the holes with a little wood glue before inserting the wood dowel pins. Instead of having ugly nail heads showing on top, we used dowel pins to hold everything together. Think of it like those IKEA pegs, but we did it ourselves!
- Add a metal bracket underneath to each corner because, well, stability is important when you’re balancing your third cup of coffee.
- The real game-changer? Those little wheels on the bottom. Best. Decision. Ever. Now I can roll this baby wherever I want – over the bed, under the TV, or even over my walking pad so I can work there as well!

How We Actually Use It (Keep It Real Time)
- My “I’m answering emails but still in my PJs” mobile desk
- The “breakfast in bed without the crumbs in the sheets” solution
- The “I’m folding laundry but also binge-watching my show” station
- The “kids’ homework help but I’m not leaving my comfy spot” surface
- And my personal favorite: the “snacks within arm’s reach during movie night” table

The Best Part?
You guys, this table has literally changed my life (okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but it’s pretty awesome). It tucks perfectly under our TV as a little console table when we’re not using it over the bed, and it’s become the MVP of furniture in our bedroom. Who knew three pieces of wood on wheels could bring so much joy?
And here’s a little secret – sometimes I use it just so I can feel fancy having breakfast in bed on a random Tuesday. Because why should weekend brunch have all the fun?

Final Thoughts (From My Bed, Obviously)
If you’re thinking about making one of these, DO IT! It’s surprisingly easy, super practical, and gives you a legitimate reason to get off your feet for a bit and relax in bed. And let’s be honest – as parents, we’ll take any excuse we can get for five more minutes of peace and quiet!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to enjoy my coffee in bed… because I can! 😉
