Yesterday was a long day. A long day with too many misadventures, one of them being a lost wallet. A lost wallet at the beginning of a ten day trip while on the other side of the country.
Of course, all of this didn’t mean that I could neglect the reason for being out here. I still had a job to do. So as I was making some arrangements, one friendly woman commented, “I can’t believe how calm you are about all of this.”
True, she didn’t see the slight breakdown I had earlier, in private, yet while on the phone with my husband, when I was hungry and knew I didn’t even have the means for lunch, with no cash, cards, checks or… anything. How was I going to eat lunch, let alone have anything through the weekend, and that’s not even mentioning the next week.
But all that was behind me now, and I replied, “Well, with being almost 7 months pregnant, I can’t afford to get worked up over something I can’t change.”
I can’t change the fact that my wallet is gone, or the fact that I’m not home, or the fact that I still have to work to do while here. I looked every place and talked to every person I could about locating it, and at that point was just working to change my future. Thanks to technology, and a wonderful husband, I was able to get money from home in a matter of minutes… once we figured out where to send it from and where to pick it up.
The kind voice agreed, “Yes it’s true, there are more important things in life.”
No matter what happens, the future is worth living for. The future is worth taking care of. Things in the past can’t be changed, but what we do right now is what shapes our future.
So, yesterday, I made it through the day with only a couple moments of high blood-pressure.

It’s a terrible feeling to lose something – but I have to say that losing a wallet is the worst. Hopefully today is better for you.

That’s so crazy. I remember when I lost my wallet but remembered where it was and it was a the air port and I had to run and go get it from the check in area and then hurry back through to get to our plane. LOL. I’m glad you were able to get money and eat. Everyone knows a pregnant lady gotta eat. 😛

I’m so sorry you lost your wallet! What a sense of helplessness that must have been 🙁 I’m so glad you were able to handle it with grace…having a breakdown doesn’t mean freaking out. Thanks for yet another good reminder: the future is definitely worth taking care of.
Thanks for checking in on my blog! I haven’t had too much time to write recently but hope to post soon 🙂

Oh no! I am so sorry for the lost wallet! Your picture, however, is gorgeous! And you are SO right….there are more important things in life. Things that are more important than most of the things I spend my time on, unfortunately. I need to refocus!

I love the quote you shared. Your experience is full of wisdom as well. We have to get to the point of figuring out our next step, why not just do it and skip the fear. Not always so easy to do! I hope you get your wallet back. This photo is so wonderful!

I hope that all is well now. Losing wallet is just one of the many things one would wish to happen on a trip and yet through your experience, you have reminded us one important thing that we can’t afford to get worked up over something that we can’t change; we might as well work out something. Not sure where your trip is bringing you, but if you happen to be in Singapore then I will be able to lend a helping hand. 🙂

Thanks for posting this today. I passed the following section of your post onto a friend of mine who is in need of it.

Thanks again.

You are a trooper, hopefully your wallet will show up. What a hassle. Being hungry is hard enough let alone when you are pregnant! glad you got taken care of. It’s a really good idea when traveling to carry valuables on your person beneath your clothes.

Sorry you lost your wallet! It is scary, especially while away from home. You handled it like a champ! It is true…”this too shall pass.” That’s the phrase I always comfort myself with when times seem too stressful. I just remind myself that in a day (a week, a year) this particular situation will be said and done…over…big or small…”this too shall pass.” I kind of have a knack for not getting too worked up about things. It kind of drives my family crazy…like they want me to freak out or something, but it’s just not in my make-up. Sorry I’m rambling in your comments section. This just sort of struck a chord with me this morning. Hope you’ve got all of your important wallet stuff replaced.
Have a great day!!♥
Live.Love.Eat says
