With Easter fast approaching, that means it’s time to create sweet memories with your little loves in the kitchen! Even though Easter celebrations will look different this year, I still wanted to create a recipe that would bring the family together and help inspire you to create Easter-inspired treats in your own household!
Whether you serve them up in the weeks leading up to Easter or want to have a fun afternoon snack time, these chocolate Easter bunny treats (made simple with Kellogg’s® Cocoa Krispies® Cereal) are so adorable.
My kids certainly got a kick out of decorating (and eating) all of their own Kellogg’s Cocoa Krispies bunny treats – which makes it a perfect snacktivity!
To create this fun recipe, I grabbed from my local Publix in the cereal aisle. Mix up your tasty treat and a little bit of fun this Easter while you SAVE. Right now, you can get free Publix marshmallows (up to $2) with the purchase of 2 Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Cereals through 4/9/21.

Make your own Easter Bunny Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats
Start with the bunny, of course.
I happen to have a few Easter bunny-shaped pans, so we used these baking pans as the mold for our bunny Rice Krispies treats.
If you have a bunny-shaped cookie cutter, you could also make your treats in a sheet pan and then cut out the shape of a bunny with the cookie cutter.
Pro Tip: Make sure to spray the pan with a non-stick baking spray so that your bunny Rice Krispies treats will slide right out!

Alternatively, you could start with circles and add the shape of bunny ears at the top for your own DIY shaped bunny treats!

Set out toppings.
Gather the goods! This is where imagination is fun, and kids will enjoy and play with whatever you set out.
Grab premade frosting while you’re picking up the Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal from Publix or feel free to make your own. Mini chocolate chips, candies, or frosting make for great eyes, noses, toes, etc. Sprinkles are always a fun addition, and in my kid’s opinion, the more – the better!

Have fun!
During the activity portion of the snacktivity, just have fun. Don’t worry about the mess – yet. Provide instruction if you need to. Enjoy your little one’s imagination and creativity (like when they want to have three eyes on their bunny, instead of two). Decorate your own if you want it a certain way, but I like to let them run with their own plan and see where it takes them.
This is where the memories are really made.

The Simple Chocolate Easter Bunny Rice Krispies® Treats Recipe

Chocolate Easter Bunny Rice Krispies Treats
I can’t resist the urge for a sweet holiday treat and snacktivity, and Easter is no exception! That’s why these simple Chocolate Easter Bunny Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® treats are the perfect snack… easy to make and fun for the whole family!
Ingredients
- • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- • 1 package (10 oz., about 40) Marshmallows (I used Publix private label marshmallows – see post for coupon!)
- • 6 cups Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies cereal
- • Canned frosting or decorating gel
- • Assorted candies
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Add Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Use a spoon to press the mixture into the molds of a bunny-shaped pan or spread evenly into a sheet pan coated with nonstick baking spray.
- Once cooled, remove the bunny molds to decorate, or using a bunny cookie cutter to cut out bunny shapes from the sheet pan.
- Decorate with frosting and/or candies for eyes, mouth, whiskers and tail. Best if served same day.
Notes
I like to add frosting for the tail and finish with a coating of coconut flakes. I also use green food dye mixed with coconut flakes for a bed of grass.
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In a microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 thru 4 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
