
So many of us spend our time living in the past and allowing past mistakes to control our ‘now’, but we don’t have to let your past define us!
In today’s episode we are diving into a game-changing mindset shift that will move you into a place of power, peace and purpose, and help you become unstoppable in the face of setbacks.
In this episode, I discuss:
- The setback I had this very morning before I started recording this episode, and the intentional decision I made to not let this one moment define or shape my day.
- How holding on to past failures or setbacks is like carrying round handfuls of heavy balls, weighing us down and making it feel like a challenge to pick up anything new! To move forward, we have to release those balls, those weights holding us down, enabling us to feel lighter, and allowing us to move forward.
- Letting go of the past isn’t easy! Even if these things are holding us back in life, it can feel comfortable to do so because it’s what we know. But ‘comfort’ doesn’t mean good – it is often just our brain’s way of trying to keep us safe by avoiding pain, but it is also holding us back from so much promise! - NPM, “next play mentality”, is a concept in the sports world, where you forget all about the last play, the mistake made or the lost point, allowing you to focus on the many wins and opportunities that are still ahead of you. The most successful athletes are those that are quick to forget and that don’t let one mistake or one missed opportunity dominate their whole game. This is a mindset I want you to assume in your life! Let the past be the past, forget the last play, and keep on going.
- One mistake does not determine your future; yes, you can learn from your mistakes and share them to help and inspire others, but give yourself the chance to win in the future by giving yourself the freedom to let go of the things that are not serving you.
