Have you found yourself feeling tired all day but you just can’t seem to get a good sleep at night? Or maybe you just feel like something’s not quite right in your body but you’re not sure where to start?
These little warning signs could mean that you’re suffering from a hormonal imbalance, and today on the podcast I am joined by the wonderful Dr. Francesca LeBlanc to share her wisdom on this topic and to explore the science of women’s health and hormones, empowering you with tips to reclaim your vitality.
With almost 300k followers on Instagram, Dr. Francesca is an oracle of knowledge and she’s here today to share her evidence-based, science-backed information to help you hack your hormone imbalances and beat brain fog, fight fatigue, lose weight and boost your energy!
In this episode, we discuss:
- How Francesca experienced hormone imbalance symptoms herself, leading to a loss of energy, lack of clarity and gaining weight and how, after 10 years of seeing doctors and specialists to no avail, she finally discovered hormone health.
- Stress and how our bodies and minds are not built for the stress we as humans are faced with today. We discuss how stress management doesn’t have to look like a whole yoga practice or self-care ritual – instead, find intentional moments in the day where you can get out of fight or flight, and into rest and digest mode.
- Dr. Francesca’s advice to start with simple box breathing to help lower cortisol. This takes just a few moments but can make a difference in the regulation of your nervous system and bring you back to neutral.
- Tips for improving sleep, including minimising blue light exposure in the evenings and taking a walk first thing in the mornings, which helps produce good quality cholesterol and vitamin D, and helps regulate blood sugar.
- Coffee, and how the timing of when you drink your coffee does matter! Having coffee first thing in the morning spikes cortisol levels and can lead to that stubborn belly fat, so try and have protein first and leave coffee until a good few hours after you wake up. And where possible, substitute it with green tea.
- The role of protein in good hormonal health, including balancing insulin and other hormones and leading to fewer hunger cravings.
- The signs to pay attention to which might indicate a hormonal imbalance, including brain fog, fatigue, loss of libido, and a lack of energy, and Francesca’s advice of what to do next if you’re experiencing these signs.
