I’ll be honest with you: I thought I loved a Toasted Marshmallow Mocha before. Then I put actual TOASTED marshmallows on top of one, and now there’s really no going back.
This iced coffee drink is chocolatey, creamy, and full of that cozy campfire marshmallow flavor. It’s also ridiculously easy to make at home, which is exactly what a busy mama needs when the afternoon slump hits.
And yes, it’s iced. Because here in Florida, we’re still pretending it’s fall while it’s 90-something degrees outside. We’ll take our cozy flavors over ice, thank you very much.

Why You’ll Love This Toasted Marshmallow Mocha
- It’s coffee shop good, at home. Skip the drive-thru line and the drive-thru price.
- It takes about 5 minutes. No fancy barista skills required.
- The toasted marshmallow topping. Golden, gooey, a little crispy on the edges. It’s the whole moment.
- It’s fall in a glass, even when it doesn’t feel like fall outside. All the cozy flavor, none of the overheating.
- It’s easy to customize. Use any milk you like and adjust the sweetness to your taste.

What You’ll Need
- Mocha sauce for lining the glass, plus a little extra to stir into the espresso
- Ice
- Toasted marshmallow syrup, 1 to 2 tablespoons depending on how sweet you like it
- Espresso, 2 fresh shots
- Milk of choice: whole, 2%, oat, almond, whatever your family keeps in the fridge
- Marshmallows for topping
You’ll also want a kitchen torch for toasting the marshmallows. If you don’t have one, see the tips below.

How to Make an Iced Toasted Marshmallow Mocha
- Line your glass. Drizzle mocha sauce around the inside of your glass so it streaks down the sides. This is the pretty part, so have fun with it.
- Add ice and syrup. Fill the glass with ice, then add 1 to 2 tablespoons of toasted marshmallow syrup.
- Make your mocha espresso. In a separate little cup, stir a little mocha sauce into 2 fresh shots of espresso until it’s smooth and blended.
- Pour in the milk. Pour your milk of choice over the ice, leaving a little room at the top.
- Top with the espresso. Slowly pour the mocha espresso right over the milk. You’ll get those gorgeous layers.
- Toast the marshmallows. Add a couple marshmallows on top and toast them until they’re golden and gooey. This is where it goes from good coffee to “wait, I made this?”
- Stir and enjoy. Give it all a good stir and sip away.

Tips and Easy Swaps
- No kitchen torch? Toast the marshmallows on a skewer over a gas stovetop flame, or under the broiler on a foil-lined tray for a few seconds. Watch them closely, because they go from golden to burnt fast. Then slide them onto your drink.
- No espresso machine? Use about 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee or cold brew concentrate instead.
- Want it sweeter? Use the full 2 tablespoons of syrup, or add a drizzle of mocha sauce on top of the marshmallows.
- Want it lighter? Start with 1 tablespoon of syrup and use a lighter milk.
- Make it decaf. Swap in decaf espresso for an afternoon or evening treat.
- Glass safety tip: If you’re torching marshmallows right on top, use a sturdy glass and keep the flame on the marshmallows, not the rim.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this hot instead of iced? Yes. Warm your milk, stir the mocha sauce, syrup, and espresso together in a mug, then pour in the milk. Top with toasted marshmallows.
Where do I find toasted marshmallow syrup? Look in the coffee aisle near the flavored syrups, especially in the fall. Many stores carry it seasonally, and it’s easy to find online too, I love this one from Amazon.
What kind of marshmallows work best? Regular-size marshmallows are perfect for toasting on top. Mini marshmallows work too, but keep in mind that they will toast very quickly.
