We love our fried state fair food in the south, and a personal family favorite is funnel cake. So, as usual, I wanted to find a way to DIY this family favorite snack food at home. I found a super simple way to make yummy pancake mix funnel cake at home.
It’s SO easy.
It’s always fun to see what new fried foods they come up with at the Florida State Fair. Funnel cakes are no exception with the new savory Flaming Hot Cheetos Funnel Cake and the double-decker Orange Glaze Funnel Cake with orange cream frosting, orange glaze whip cream, topped with orange candies.
The options are pretty much endless, and you could create so many flavor combos and fun toppings – or even a buffet style toppings bar.
I have to say though, I’m always a fan of the original. Simple, flavorful and topped with powdered sugar.

Easy Funnel Cake From Pancake Mix
When I was looking for an easy way to make funnel cakes, I was super excited to find out you can make funnel cake from pancake mix at home. I always have a box of Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix in our pantry.
We love Krusteaz pancake mix because the pancakes come out light and fluffy every time – and all I have to do is add water. So, I reached for our trusty mix to give this recipe a try, and it works perfectly!
And on top of working perfectly, the taste is SO good. Brayden couldn’t stop commenting that it tastes just like at the fair, or better!
Making funnel cake from pancake mix couldn’t get any easier than this two-ingredient recipe. And if you are worried about frying the funnel cakes, which is easier than it seems, I recommend getting a deep-fry thermometer.
